Before I started teaching online I was a Subject Matter Expert. I wrote and organized the entire Advanced Math Decision Making course. It was my job to find the content and create the related assessments. It was a very rigorous and stressful experience. The biggest challenge for me was related to copyright concerns. In a face to face class, you may pull from all sort of resources to deliver the content. Online content must follow copyright laws and you may not used graphic from published sites. https://students.ga.desire2learn.com/d2l/home/386848 Since I use Brightspace/D2L for two instructions and have used Moodle for another, I decided to create my course using Canvas. The first steps after selecting create a new course was to allow you to create a new module or import a course. The import content step had multiple content type options. Unfortunately I was not clear on how to import the DC Tool Test zip. I tried a couple of options. It is very important to follow the steps as it is not easy to figure it out. I tried to import the zip three different ways. The last two ways failed! I am not sure why but I do know I have created course pages for years so…https://canvas.instructure.com/courses/1171306 Also tried to import to the https://www.myhaikuclass.com/ and experience the same issues. The zip file would not successfully. I did like how the site would email you when the import was complete.
The general steps are:
The major tool categories are student administration, instruction, content, communication, assessments, evaluation and feedback, analytics, learning object repositories, and ePortfolio.
The most relevant features offered within an LMS are discussion and dropbox, They are also directly related to effective online instructions. The discussion forum is used as a way to connect with classmates. It is a way to make the virtual class seem like a classroom. The dropbox is needed to help teachers teach effectively. The feedback comments attached to the submitted items are essential for student growth. Which LMS is best?
